Case Study: Hudl LEADERS Series
Overview & Purpose
The purpose of this case study is to show the working relationship and outcome of video production between Texas FilmWorks and Hudl. We’ve had a great working relationship with Hudl since 2017, and have had the chance to film around the country telling some of their stories.
Client: Hudl
Hudl is a product and service of Agile Sports Technologies, Inc. - a Lincoln, Nebraska based company providing tools for coaches and athletes to review game footage and improve team play.
Need: A cinematic video production series to tell the stories of leaders who overcame adversity, and inspired their followers.
Why: To create an engaging and relatable series about coaches who use Hudl’s services, and the impact the leaders make on the community around them.
Challenges
The challenge for this three part series (Jen Brooks, Jason Glen, and Leal Anderson) were multifaceted. While Jen Brooks was filmed before the pandemic (we flew back a week before lockdowns began), both Jason Glenn and Leal Anderson were filmed during COVID-19.
The challenge of filming in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic was tough. Getting approval from schools to film in their facilities, as well as working to tell a solid story was…well, hard. With Hudl running down most of those logistics, as well as working with us to find the story we made it happen. Due to travel restrictions the Hudl team would Zoom in for interviews on location.
The second major challenge is that Jason Glenn’s film was based off of a moment that was captured on video by a local news station. We tried to source that video, and even offered to pay for the rights to use it in the film, but the news station and their parent company declined our request. Telling a story about a video that went viral without the viral video is rough!
The good news though is that working with a client as well organized as the team at Hudl made this project possible.

From the Client:
“Working with the TXFW crew always feels like working with an extension of our internal team. For this project, they captured our vision for the story beautifully and were able to bring it to life in such a captivating way. The end result felt elevated and on par with our expectations.
The TXFW team was receptive and easy to work with on this project. We battled some pandemic-related challenges but they took everything with grace and ease and helped us get the project done.
One of my favorite parts of working with the TXFW team is their ability to put their creative spin on our videos. We've developed a trusted, open relationship where we can rely on them as partners to challenge us and bring innovative ideas to our work. This Emmy was an exciting, well-deserved award as a result of a lot of hard work and we couldn't be happier to share it with this team.”
